Chinese Character Secrets
Among all kinds of writing systems on this world, the Chinese symbol characters have
their own specific mythical value and artistic flavor, as they are totally different from the word spellings of Roman
Alphabetical systems. Each Chinese symbol corresponds to a single syllable. Most Chinese words are polysyllabic and thus
require two or more character joining together to express a full meaning in the form of phrases.
Chinese symbol characters' formation do not consist of any letters or
spelling rules. Each character occupies a more or less square area. Chinese written words are made up of multiple
parts put together so as to maintain a uniform size and shape ?this is the case especially with characters written in the
standard Chinese style. Due to this feature, people sometimes call Chinese words or characters "Fang Kuai Ji"
(方塊字), which means "Square-Block Characters". But how can a square shaped Chinese character be
formed? Well, it still has special rules to follow. Generally, all Chinese symbols can be divided into 6 categories in
terms of the way they are formed. These 6 types of characters was categorized by a traditional Chinese theory framework
called LiuShu (六書).
